Unleashed – To See or Not To See, that is the question.
Not every dog is comfortable and trustworthy off lead. And a common conversation point is that "my dog will need to be on lead, is that a problem?". Well the answer is absolutely no problem at all, because it's easy to remove the lead during editing.
In truth a lot of photos of dogs that you see on the internet would most likely had a lead edited out. Yes, it's absolutely ideal to have the dog off lead and no harness, but we don't live in a perfect world, and editing allows the opportunity to resolve this without the risk of a curious or untrusted dog running off into the distance as their little buddy from puppy class has just walked around the corner, or the sound of a family opening a picnic hamper (is that just a Labrador thing?).
I will blur out dog name tags and will sometimes remove them, but I will definitely remove any leads (or owners legs/hands caught in the frame) during editing. I can also remove collars and sometimes a harness if the image and the dogs colouring allow it.
Here are two examples (before and after) where I have removed the leads and harness's from the pups.
